JOB SUMMARY

The Associate Carpenter is responsible for assisting the construction and facilities services staff with all aspects of constructing and remodeling. May assist with flooring, ceiling installation and systems, cabinets and millwork, wall protection, doors and hardware, wall covering removal, marker boards, tack boards, modular furniture, clocks, and interior signage. May also install cabinets, siding, drywall and batt or roll insulation. Must have basic knowledge of standard hand tool operation. Must take extra precautions when working in patient care areas and specifically, keep tools out of reach of children. Follows established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean environment.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Study specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required. Measure and mark cutting lines on materials, using a ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge. Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws. Install structures or fixtures, such as windows, frames, floorings, trim, or hardware, using carpenters' hand or power tools. Build or repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, or other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, carpenter's hand tools, or power tools. Inspect ceiling or floor tile, wall coverings, siding, glass, or woodwork to detect broken or damaged structures. Fill cracks or other defects in plaster or plasterboard and sand patch, using patching plaster, trowel, and sanding tool. Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.

DEPARTMENT DETAILS

This position is for our carpenter group known as the Move Team. Primary job duties are more focused on the delivery, modification and installation of modular systems furniture. Ability to read floor plans, use carpenter's hand tools and small power tools is key. Knowledge of other building finish types is beneficial for minor repairs to affected areas as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

When applicable, may need a valid driver's license. If valid driver's license is required, must maintain a good driving record. High School Diploma or GED preferred. Trade or Vocational School preferred.
