Contribute to Sanford operations and processes while obtaining first hand experiences that align with the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Assist in the completion of projects and administrative duties while developing skills related to the assigned function and/or location. Attend training and development opportunities, learning about various processes and functions within the organization.
Collaborates with departmental associates and management. Researches business related data and generates and interprets basic analytics. Demonstrates a basic understanding of organizational project management practices and tools. Demonstrates the ability to speak, write and present clearly. Delivers formal and informal stand-up presentations or demos to audiences of all kinds. Identifies tasks or outputs that require accuracy and detail-level attention. Our department intern will be located in either Fargo or Sioux Falls. The Patients Account intern will go through our new hire training/ onboarding process that we send all new hires through and assist in developing best practices for training/ onboarding. This will entail the intern to learn the Patient Accounts position and assist in developing best practices for new hires. The intern will also be running reports and reporting to management the reports/ outcomes. Our intern will be exposed to the day-to-day operations of a patient contact center. We are patient’s first contact for patients concerns, complaints and payment on patient accounts. The intern will learn the processes and procedures of a Patient Account Representative while researching best hiring, retention and onboarding practices for a healthcare contact center. The intern will also have the ability to assist in running financial and statistical reports. Our office is open Monday through Thursday 7 AM to 6PM and 7 AM to 5 PM on Fridays. Hours intern would work are 8 to 4:30 Monday through Thursday and 8 to 4:30 on Fridays. There may be some opportunity for flexibility after the intern goes through our training process. It would be a 40 hour week excluding holidays that Sanford recognizes. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and the willingness to learn other programs and ability to adapt to a fast changing environment. The intern should be able to research and develop best practices of call center/ patient contact environment. Desired background in Business, healthcare or human resource coursework helpful.
Current enrollment or recent graduate of an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program from an accredited college or university.
Knowledge of healthcare industry preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
